A dance show without borders
A coproduction of Avaton Theater and 1st Bollywood Dance Academy Greece
Dakshina Dance Company, an award winning Dance Company from Washington DC, will come in Athens for a one-evening performance presenting Sangamam Show at the intimate Theater Avaton, on Saturday January 14th 2017. Five unique choreographies that combine Classical Indian dance “Bharata Natyam” alongside with Contemporary Dance trying to break the barriers of borders, language and ethnicity.
A few words for the show:
Artistic director Daniel Phoenix Singh creates choreographies full of energy that reflect the communities that inspire him. The Sangamam show present five independent choreographies among which you will find “Since you’ve asked” that deals with love’s rebirth, “Lullaby” that combines indian dance with O Mio Babbino Caro, a soprano aria by Giacomo Puccini, as well as famous choreographies of Rama Vaidyanathan and Anna Sokolow.
During his stay in Athens, choreographer Daniel Phoenix Singh will teach Classical Indian Dance Bharata Natyam in a workshop that will be held on Sunday, Januray 15th, 2017 (12:00 – 14:00) at Artistic Studio Oriental Expression (Antiopis 31 – Aghios Dimitrios, Tel: 30 210 9735888)

Daniel Phoenix Singh let dancers and audience to connect without the limits of written speech. He believes that every viewer must be free to interpret the spectacle through his own point of view and define it with his own way. Dakshina Dance Group gives the audience the opportunity to experience dance as a medium of social change that surpasses barriers, cultures and even time. Dakshina Group is the only group that has been awarded with “Innovate Arts Award” by “Arts and Humanities” board of Washington DC.
